USTs
Homebuyers
are becoming more sophisticated about heating oil underground
storage tanks. Most know that there is a potential liability for
cleanup if there is a UST release, even if they never used the
tank. For a minimal charge, CCA will examine whether there is
a release before you close on the sale. Depending on your needs,
results of our sampling can be obtained within 24 hours to 2 weeks
after soil samples are collected. CCA recommends testing around
the tank early in the sale process in case a leak is discovered.
CCA is very aware of how important it is to achieve a quick resolution
to residential heating oil tanks. Our
association with professional tank removers ensures considerate,
high quality work at your home or investment property. Should
contamination be detected, CCA’s record in getting residential
sites closed quickly is exceptional. We have a good working relationship
with regulatory authorities and a full understanding of applicable
regulations.
The North Carolina Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) trust
fund reimburses residential tank owners for all or most of their
expenses to clean up a release. The non-commercial fund, which
covers assessment and cleanup for nearly all residential tanks,
is adequately funded at this time and should remain so in the
foreseeable future. CCA can help you apply to the fund and prepare
your reimbursement requests. Because of the solvent trust fund
and the current regulatory climate, there has never been a better
time to remove your residential tank.
